Leaving for New Year Celebration

We are leaving for an Abilene New Year this morning. The great grandmas on Ashleigh's side will get to see Morgan for the first time. I thought I would go ahead and post this photo before we leave. This is Ashleigh Grandma Jan and Morgan in front of the cross stick that Grandma Jan did.

The Cradle

This cradle was purchased by my grandmother Sylvia Griffin (aka Maw Maw) at one of our famous Griffin Family Reunion auctions. Every great grand child of Lee and Sylvia Griffin has slept in this cradle, now including Morgan. We were happy to continue the tradition.

Were we really there?

Well, we really wish we could have been in Waco this year to celebrate Christmas with our family. I know that Morgan was looking forward to meeting everyone. At least we were able to show up for a quick photo though... or did we?

Christmas Eve Gift!

I thought I would be the first family member ever to win the Christmas Eve gift game by blogging it. Times are changing.

Well, today is my twenty-fourth birthday and Morgan was kind enough to behave through a movie and a sit-down dinner with our friends Gary and Misty at Crescent City Seafood. Ashleigh gave me some nice gifts but, of course, Morgan was my favorite gift.

First Doctor's Appointment

Morgan went to the doctor for the first time today. First, he tried to pee on the nurse. Then he was weighed and measured. He now weighs 9 lbs, 12 oz. and is 22.5 inches long! As you can see, the boy likes to eat! He's in perfect health, and doesn't have to go back until he's 2 months old.

Morgan seems to be changing more every day. He is more alert now and we can tell that his eyes are starting to focus better. Here is a picture from "sleep time" today, although, as you can see, there's not a whole lot of sleeping going on.

Today, Morgan made his first trip to Subway. He is not yet old enough to enjoy the delicious yet low fat flavor of Subway but I guess, in a way, he will be getting it second hand. He continues to get bigger. We will be taking him in to be wieghed this week and we will make sure to post the stats.

Christmas Shopping

Today we will be taking Morgan out for his first shopping experience at the mall. Ashleigh is starting to feel much better and is up and around quite a bit. I think she is looking forward to being out and about. We made a trip to the hospital here in Midland last night to see Ashleigh's friend Jennifer and her new baby Caleb. Caleb was eight pounds at birth which is nothing to turn you nose up at. Next to Morgan, though, Caleb looked premature. Morgan is a Bruiser alright!

First Snow Fall

It's a cold day in Midland! It's hard to believe that Morgan is already over a week old and even harder to believe that he has already seen his first Texas snow.

The Birth of Morgan Wesley Griffin

It was quite an ordeal and we are so glad we did it! Thank you everyone that helped us out. We especially want to thank Tacie for staying with us after the birth and helping us learn how to care for little Morgan.

Brand Spankin' New

This is the first post on the Griffin Chronicles blog site. After the arrival of our first child, Morgan Wesley Griffin, Ashleigh and I decided that we needed to share our memoirs with friends and family, and thus the Griffin Chronicles was born. We will be adding photos, videos, and other news soon so keep checking back for the latest. I thought I would start by posting Morgan's official birth announcement.
