Backyard Project: The Camera Dolly

Here's the latest of my backyard projects. It's a camera dolly that runs along tracks made of PVC pipe. Even though I built it for a camera, the kids didn't waste any time making good use of it. Turns out it also makes a great ride. Thanks to my dad for helping me build it. Wish he could have been here to see it finished.

Fall Sampler

We had accumulated a pretty large collection of miscellaneous photos on our computer so I decided it was time for a sampler post. Without further ado, we present for your enjoyment an assortment of random cuteness gathered throughout the past 6 weeks.

This is a circus Morgan made out of his Lincoln Logs.

The cuteness.

To my chagrin, Morgan has been getting a lot bolder with his tricks on the swingset.

Again, the cuteness.

Matt is the unfortunate victim of my relentless project compulsion...

I blame it on "nesting instinct".

This is a classic Morgan expression!

Morgan attempts to write his letters...E, T, B, F, C, A, U

You can see Emma's fashion sense is developing...she accessorized this look herself.

The kids love to watch Daddy grill.

First Circus

Tonight we took the kids to their first circus. It wasn't as overwhelmingly massive as a Ringling Bros. show, which was perfect for the kids. They got to see a lot of acrobats, tricks and stunts of every kinds, lions & tigers, elephants & a bear...they were pretty impressed. The looks on Morgan's face were priceless as you can see in the photos below.

These poor kids have cheap parents...no pony ride.

I'm not sure what I'm explaining to Morgan, but he looks a little worried.

The look on Emma's face here pretty much sums it up...

Daddy was here too...

He was REALLY stoked!

Birthday Visit to Abilene

We made a short little trip to Abilene last weekend in honor of my Dad's birthday. On Saturday Memaw & Pepaw took us to the balloon festival. In addition to watching several hot air balloons take off, the kids got to jump and slide on all the inflatables set up for the occassion. They also visited a nearby prairie dog town.

Heading over to see the prairie dogs...Mom is quite likely on the phone with Haleigh.

This is a pretty classic look for my mom...

Watching the prairie dogs

Emma needs a little time to cool down in the shade.

Here you can see all the little prairie dog mounds.
