"I Never Dreamed of a Day Like This..."

We spent last weekend in Paris, TX for multiple family reunions. The kids had a good ol' country time. Morgan's assessment– "I never dreamed of a day like this"– pretty much sums it up. We ran & jumped on hay bales, went to the Crutchfield reunion, then the Pumpkin Festival at the Paris square, then Pyles' cemetery, and finally a weenie roast at Aunt Darenda's house (a small Hicks family reunion).
This was taken at the Pumpkin Festival downtown.

At Pyles' Cemetery, near some old family graves.

Introducing Viola Marie to her namesake.
It looks like she's mourning her relative, but she's really grumpy because we had to wake her up to come out here.
We all worked hard to get this smile out of her.
                                                          The tradition lives on.

Weenie roast at Aunt Darenda & Uncle James' house.
It's hard to see them here, but there was a herd of longhorn cattle behind James & Darenda's property.

The Kids Had Fun Too!

While we were in Boise, the kids had all the fun they could handle. Big breakfasts, trips to the park & Pioneer farms, plenty of time in the woods, hot dogs & s'mores...Thanks for a great time Papa Wes & GG!
Waiting for the train, which ended up being reserved for a party...foiled again!
At Pioneer Farms
Feeding the donkeys
Giving each other tastes....
A visit with MawMaw
All packed up for a trip to the woods
Lunch in the old goat shed!
"cooking its" (as Morgan used to say) over an open fire

Boise Vacation

We went to church in Nampa, one of many smaller cities around Boise. This is "downtown" Nampa, after our lunch at Messenger Pizza.
A river runs through it...literally. Not just one, but many rivers. Rivers everywhere!
About 30 minutes outside town, the mountains get very piney like Colorado.

We took a little day trip to Cascade, not quite 2 hrs from Boise.

 Our guest house
There was never anyone passing by so here's another self-taken shot.
